MYSTERY, MURDER, and MANOLO BLAHNIK

A devoted fashionata and practical New Yorker, Skylar Blackwell doesn’t believe in the supernatural—until she inherits Summerwind Mansion. . . .
When her uncle is brutally murdered, and the cops seem uninterested in following up the case, Skylar journeys to California to seek answers. Her search for clues is soon overshadowed by haunting nightmares of a young woman also murdered in the house.

Now the inhabitants of Summerwind are mysteriously dying, leaving no evidence as to how or why, and Skylar finds herself in a deadly race against time to expose the killer—before they strike again.

Armed with only wit and Pradas, Skylar begins questioning the servants, but the growing list of suspects includes the sexy and brooding caretaker, Dorian Delacroix, a man desperately trying to forget his tragic past. And a major distraction for Skylar.

Determined to play detective—instead of the fashion police—and unravel the dark history of the mansion, Skylar is plunged into an otherworldly mystery that not even she can explain away. As the boundaries between reality and dreams blur, Skylar’s greatest challenge is to stay alive long enough to learn the truth.

What did I think?
This was a really good book. It had a good plot, lovely charachters, a lot of suspence and a nice love story.
I rated this book a three, which is really not a bad rating. Overall it was a good story that kept me on my toes but it did not have the wow factor. Hence the rating.

So to the charachters. Some I loved and others I did not love so much.

We have the main charachter namne Skylar. She is a real fashionista and works as a fashion photografer at a hip magazine. She inherits the creepy Summerwind Mansion from her dead uncle. His death was a mystery to Skylar. She did not beleive that his death was natural so, one day when she gets fired from work she decides to go and check the Mansion out. While she is there she digs more into her uncles death to do him justice. This is more dangerous than she could have ever imagined...
Hellbent on not beleiving in the supernatural she might want to think again after staying at the mansion.
Skylar is a stubborn twenty five year old woman that knows what she wants. She is caring and curious. I really liked her and I felt really sorry for her sometimes. She had an unconventional upbringing staying with her grandmother. They grew really close and when she passed away it left a big hole in Skylars heart.

In comes our hero of the book, Dorian. This is a reeally mysterious guy that is hard to put your finger on. He struggles to do the "right" thing when it comes to him and Skylar. Whatever that means for him. I could not see why they could not be together. I keep wishing that he just suck it up and get his shit toghether. And eventually he did and that really made him grew as a charachter for me. The entire book he felt like a strong guy but with an extremely broken heart. This made him have trustissues and also it was hard for him to get close to people.

In the mansion also lives a huge amount of staff to take care of the house, including Dorians hideous aunt. I really really did not like her. She was such a bi**h that I just wanted to slap her. Her mission in life was to make Skylars and Dorians lives misserable. Also her matchmaking skills for her own son Victor sucked. Sure I can understand that a mother only wants her son to be happy but come on, overkill!

I really liked that almost all charachters stirred some kind of emotion in me as you might already have figured out lol. The story had a creepy feeling to it and a lot of ups and downs which I liked.

If you like a spunky main charachter in a creepy ghost story this is totally something for you!
This is a book that is worth your time.
