Book review: All I ever wanted by Kristan Higgins

Posted on 11:05 by Unknown
Author: Kristan Higgans
Title: All I ever wanted
Series: No
Genre: Adult romance
Purchase: Amazon | B&N
My rating:

About the book:
One Happily-Ever-After Rocking Chair...
and no sign of any forthcoming babies to rock in ol' Georgebury, Vermont. For Callie Grey, turning thirty means coming to grips with the fact that her boss (and five-week fling) is way overdue in his marriage proposal. And way off track because Mark has suddenly announced his engagement to the company's new Miss Perfect. If that isn't bad enough, her mom decides to throw her a three-oh birthday bash in the family funeral home.
Bad goes to worse when she stirs up a crazy relationship with the town's not so warm and fuzzy veterinarian, Ian McFarland, in order to flag Mark's attention. So Ian is more comfortable with animals.... So he's formal, orderly and just a bit tense. The ever-friendly, fun-loving and spontaneous Callie decides it's time for Ian to get a personality makeover. But dang, if he doesn't shock the heck out of her, she might actually fall for Vermont's unlikeliest eligible bachelor....

My thoughts:
Oh my god, this book is so funny! I LOVE this author´s humor. It was a long time since I laughed this much because of a book! Amazingly funny, romantic and just adorable plain simple. If you want to read something really cute, funny and tastefully romantic then this book is for you.
I love Callie even if she is a bit to much optimistic and always happy and loving absolutely everything. There is just no way you wont like her. Annoying? YES it is just not possible to like everything and be happy all the time, ok so she is not happy all the time but that is what she want everyone else to think. But unlikable? NO, I mean come on you´ll love her all the same. She is adorable!
Ian is... well rude for one thing but that is just part of his charm right! doesn´t everyone like a socially handicapped hunk who is rude and never says a word. You wouldn´t tolerate a guy in the real world who is like that but in a book? Oh such a dreamy hunk right?!
Anyway, it works and this is such a sweet and funny story. I laughed so much I started crying and my son just looked at me like I was crazy....

IN MY MAILBOX

Posted on 12:24 by Unknown

IMM is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren. It is a way for book bloggers to post what they have received for review, borrowed from a friend, bought at the bookstore, or picked up at the library.

This week Cecilia got a few books for review;

Brunswick by ANN HAINES

When Jonathan wakes up beside a lake bruised and bleeding, he has no idea how he got there or where “there” really is. He must try to remember how he ended up in this place and why.
When he meets Grace and a group of people that seem to want to help him, he is thrown in to a world that he doesn’t know. Haunted by visions and voices in his head, Jonathan soon realises that this world isn’t as safe as he’d hoped.
Taken from his life and asked to save a land he knows nothing about, from a menacing hooded figure, Jonathan must learn quickly to survive. As he struggles to stay alive long enough to get home he is faced with a deadly choice, Join It or Die. And when it becomes clear that so many would do anything to kill him he must stay close to those who would kill for him.

Nightsky by JOLENE PERRY

After losing Sarah, the friend he’s loved, to some other guy, Jameson meets Sky. Her Native American roots, fluid movements, and need for brutal honesty become addictive fast. This is good. Jameson needs distraction – his dad leaves for another woman, his mom’s walking around like a zombie, and Sarah’s new boyfriend can’t keep his hands off of her.
As he spends time with Sky and learns about her village, her totems, and her friends with drums - she's way more than distraction. Jameson's falling for her fast.

This week Sandra purchase one book;

A Temptation of Angels by MICHELLE ZINK

When her parents are murdered before her eyes, sixteen-year-old Helen Cartwright finds herself launched into an underground London where a mysterious organization called the Dictata controls the balance of good and evil. Helen learns that she is one of three remaining angelic descendants charged with protecting the world's past, present, and future. Unbeknownst to her, she has been trained her whole life to accept this responsibility. Now, as she finds herself torn between the angelic brothers protecting her and the devastatingly handsome childhood friend who wants to destroy her, she must prepare to be brave, to be hunted, and above all to be strong, because temptation will be hard to resist, even for an angel.

Book review: Titan Magic By Jodi Lamm

Posted on 11:49 by Unknown
Author: Jodi Lamm
Title: Titan Magic
Series: None
Genre: Young Adult, fantasy, mythology romance
Purchase: Amazon
My rating:

About the book:
Mute, heartless, and tormented by auditory hallucinations, Madeleine Lavoie never questions why her family has hidden her from the world. But the night her brother casts her out, she learns the mysterious voice she thought existed only in her mind is no delusion, and no matter how hard she tries, she can never disobey it.
Now Madeleine must find her own voice in a cacophony of powerful tyrants, monsters, and gods. If she fails, she will forfeit her life and the lives of everyone who loves her. But if she succeeds, she may finally gain the ability to love someone in return.

My thoughts:

Wow! This book was absolutely fantastic! First of all I loved the story, the magic about it, the creatures in it!   How did she came up with this idea when everyone else is writing about angels, vampires and fairies, I have no idea but it works! If you want to read something unique, this is definitely something for you!

This book is not about the superficial, not at all. The author does not really tell us much about what the characters look like but you will get a sense of it. This story is about humanity, love, friendship, loyalty and trust.
Madeleine is searching for her voice but she is also searching for her humanity and the ability to love and be loved for who she is and not be judged by what she is. All the characters in this book is lovable in some way and at the same time you get really mad at them sometimes. It is hard to decide who is the good one of the guys Will, Jaz and Marcus. I guess they all have their moments and will have your interest till the very end. This story is really beautiful and complex and the ending is unexpected and great and confusing at the same time. I really loved this book and I truly recommend this book with my whole heart!

Book review: Bloodrose by Andrea Cremer

Posted on 23:53 by Unknown
Author: Andrea Cremer
Title: Bloodrose
Series: Nightshade series #3
Genre: Paranormal romance
Purchase: Amazon
My Rating:

About the Book:

Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there's more at stake than fighting. There's saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay's wrath. There's keeping Ansel safe, even if he's been branded a traitor. There's proving herself as the pack's alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers' magic once and for all. And then there's deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is. In this remarkable final installment of the Nightshade trilogy, international bestselling author Andrea Cremer crafts a dynamic novel with twists and turns that will keep you breathless until its final pages.
My Thoughts(Spoiler Alert for those who have not read Wolfsbane!):

I think that I have a litte bit of a love/hate relationship with this third and final book. Wonder why? Well, that is beacouse I just hated how it ended. But I also love it becouse it was something that I was certainly not expecting. This book was amazing in all ways. It made me laugh, cry, smile and I was even a bit angry at times. Andrea Cemer brings you on a emotional rollercoster that you just don´t want to get off.

I think almost all of the characters had a hard time in this book. They were all facing new exciting things in their lives and also hard and scary things.
Shay was adjusting alot to his new role and doing so very well I must say. In the meen time Ren had big adjusting to do himself in the Serchers compound.

And then we have Calla. What can I say. She is an amazing character who has so much to deal with. It is the loss of her mother, Ansel´s new life and of course her extremely complicated love life. This love triangle is one of the best I have read. She obviously loves the both very much but she has to choose and that is not an easy task when your inlove with two guys that are like Ren and Shay. To wrap this one up I just have to say that I fell inlove with this book and this series from the start but even as amazing as this final book was, it managed to leave me empty in the end. Not necesarily in a bad way but i´m kind of sad that it ended like this. Im conflicted. But that is what makes this so great! Pick this one up if you haven´t already beacause it is so worth it!

Tune in Tuesday - Amanda Mair

Posted on 12:11 by Unknown

Tune in Tuesday is hosted by Ginger @ GReads

My contribution this week:
AMANDA MAIR - Doubt

This song is from a swedish artist who is really good and this song is about the struggle to be someone or to do something but to accept that i might never happen. I think that a lot of YA books is about the heroine´s doubt about herself but I think that often they are very strong and mostly overcome them and they never accept that something they want to achieve wont happen!

Book review: The Willows: Haven by Hope Collier

Posted on 00:47 by Unknown
Author: Hope Collier
Title: The Willows: Haven
Series: The Willows #1
Genre: Young adult, Paranormal romance
Purchase: Amazon |
My rating:

About the book:
When tragedy strikes, seventeen year-old Ashton Blake sets out on a cross-country road trip, leaving the comforts of Malibu for the mountains of Kentucky. Along the way, she encounters Gabe Willoughby—the mysterious drifter with eyes like the sea and a knowing smile. Getting to know Gabe raises questions about her past. But no secret can be buried forever, and Ashton soon finds herself in a world where water is air and myth becomes reality.

Just as Ashton comes to accept her newfound heritage, she’s summoned to fulfill a treaty laid down centuries before — a treaty that will divide her love and test her loyalty. In the end, her future isn’t her biggest concern, her humanity is. To run may mean war, but is she strong enough to stay?
My thoughts:

This book is amazing! The author has the most beautiful way of writing that just captures you. It was really hard to put this book down. I really like that Collier does not give you every information right away, she really knows how to keep your interest. When Collier writes I can almost feel what the characters feel, and that to me is really good writing!

I love Ashton and Gabe, the characters in this book, and the tension between them is so well written you feel you can almost touch it. Ashton is such a strong young woman, she´s been through so much in her young life and still she makes it work. Life does not make it easy for her but she never loses her will to fight for herself.
Gabe... Well what to say about him. He seem to be a great guy and well to be honest really dreamy but you can´t shake the feeling he has an ulterior motive and Collier is really good to keep you guessing to the last page almost. There is so much happening in this book and then we Kyle the best friend and really you just have to like the guy but like so much in this book: Nothing is what it seem to be!!!

Book review: Deadly reflections by D.H. Sayer

Posted on 10:38 by Unknown
Author: D.H. Sayer
Title: Deadly reflections
Series: None
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal mystery romance
Purchase: Amazon |
My Rating:

About the Book:

Justin Wells has a less than perfect life. His parents have recently divorced and he is living with his dad, who does nothing but watch TV all day. They've moved into a house that is falling apart around them. Worst of all, he is attending a new high school, where everyone treats him like an outcast.

Things don't get any easier for him when he becomes interested in Sarah Ellis, girlfriend of all-star hockey player Brandon Tate, a quick-tempered bully who soon has it out for Justin.

Right when Justin is starting to make friends and his life is incrementally improving, an ancient and mysterious entity is unleashed on the sleepy New England town. After a few suspicious deaths, it becomes apparent that something is going on a killing spree... something that can only be seen in mirrors.

As the bodies start piling up around them, Justin and his new friends have to figure out how to stop this terrible force before it picks them off one by one.

My Thoughts:

I usually think twice before I pick up a book with a lot of horrors like murder and stuff like that but when there is some romance in the book it can sometimes level out the creepy parts of the book, and this was one of those books where it was a perfect balance between love and horrific murder. This book was actually really good and to be honest it is not often I say that about these kind of books and the last time I read a thriller or mystery it got a really bad rating. It can be to much of the scary stuff.

This book kept you on your toes the whole time and sometimes I could not decide who was wore Sara´s ex boyfriend or the monster lurking in the shadows! You just could not stop reading because you wanted to know what would happen next. I also really like Justin, because he just seemed like a really great guy. He really cared about the people around him.

I really enjoyed to read the book from different perspectives, even tough it was mostly from Justin´s point of view, you also get to read parts from some of the other characters in the story, and I think that is one thing that made this book so good. I would definitively recommend this book because it was awesome!
