Book review: Rewrite Redemption by J.H. Walker

Posted on 23:00 by Unknown

Author: J.H. Walker
Title: Rewrite Redemption
Series: None
Genre: YA Paranormal romance/Sci fi elements
E-Copy: From author
Purshace: Amazon
My rating: 4 feet

She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.

She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn’t end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her.
She wants answers.
He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.
Then he moves to her town.

What did I think?
I really enjoyed this one! It had a little bit of everything. Time travel, love, hate, sorrow, joy and excitement. It was a complex storyline that made you think a lot. Puzzling different pieces together.
A.J. and Constantines story is really taking and it is hard not to feel for the charachters. They both have had tragedies in their families that reflect who they are when they meet eachother for the first time.
A.J is a girl who tries to be invisible to everyone around her. Except her two best friends Lex and Ipod. Only when she is at home with them in the treehouse they live in she can relax and just be her own bubbly self. In school she speaks to no one and tries to avoid eyecontact with people. She is just too afraid to draw attention to herself incase she dissapears all of a sudden. I mean who can blame her? She is hunted by guilt over her mothers death and her fathers depression. She thinks it´s her fault because none of the could understand how come she just keeps on dissapearing.

Constantine moves to town after a big family tradegy that haunts him. He also thinks that it is his fault for everything that happend in his family. He is angry and unable to fix it. That is until AJ walks in to his life and she gives him hope. He is instantly drawn to her and soon figures out why.

She is an Editor like himself. He knows what he is but she doesen´t. They have a lot to learn from eachother. A.J. made Constantine grow up in a way I think and Constantine helped her learn who and what she was. They balanced eachother out perfectly.

Overall this was a great story!

New Adult review: Broken Gates by D.T. Dyllin

Posted on 12:52 by Unknown

Author:D.T. Dyllin
Title: Broken Gates
Series: P.J. Stone Gates Triology #2
Genre: New Adult, Paranormal Romace
My Copy: ARC E-book from author
Release date: May 24th
My rating: 5 feet

Blurb:

P.J. Stone is a Seer who saw too little, too late.

In the past, her biggest worries were boys and school—but war has a way of changing things. Now, the alien Riders are trying to overrun the world. As the last of their kind, P.J. and her friends must find a way to save humanity before there’s nothing left to save.

After choosing a mate, P.J. hoped she'd have time to enjoy her love life. But with everything changing so quickly and major secrets revealed, who knows what the future will bring?

What did I think?

I loved this one! It was way better than the first book!
From the beginning we are thrust into action (litterally on the first page!) and it just keeps going.
Twists and turns and very unexpected thing happen. Since the book is not released yet I will try to keep this review a bit shorter just so I don´t spoil anything for you. That would be no fun :)
Instead I am just going to try to explain how much I loved it.  I can´t wait for the third book!
Dyllin threw a giant cliffhanger in the end and I soo need to know what happens next!

P.J. is again dealing with seriously hard stuff for a girl her age. Between threats of humanity, a love triangle and heartbreak she is in over her head most of the time. But this is what makes this story so awesome!

This whole triangle between P.J., Bryn and Khol is awesome. Usually I like one of the guys more than the other but Dyllin made it really hard to choose. Especially the Bryn acted like a jerk.
As I said in my review of the first book, Khol is a guy that I love to hate and I really do in this book. There were some aaww moments with him and other moments I just wanted to slap him lol

So If you enjoyed the first book I strongly recommend you to read this one. You will not get dissapointed at all!

Devour blog tour: Review and Giveaway

Posted on 05:35 by Unknown

Author: Andrea Heltsley
Title: Devour
Series: None
Genre: Young adult, Paranormal romance
E-Copy: From author
Purchase: Amazon
My Rating: 2 feet

He wasn't supposed to remember.

Callie is a royal vampire. She hunts by taking the blood from her victims and erases their memories afterwards. She goes undetected until a victim named Chase approaches her with all his memories intact. He is intrigued and attracted. She is terrified. What happens when a human mixes with the immortal world? Chaos.

Callie’s 18th birthday has passed and she is coming out at the annual blood ball. Will she find a mate or will she suffer the repercussions of her indiscretion? She is brought to the Vampire council and they must decide what to do with Chase. Do they kill him, or turn him to protect their secret?

What did I think?

Well, this was an okey book. After reading the blurb I was really looking forward to reading it but when I did I was kind of dissapointed. The story line itself and the thought of the book was really good. But there was something missing. I wanted a little bit more action in what was happening. For me it just felt kind of dull. It was not hard to put it down at all. I usually love romance and it can even be cheesy sometimes without it beeing a problem for me. However, in this book it went way too far! It was almost like the authour put love in every meaning and it just became too cheesy for me. What can I say? It was a nice in betweener for me but nothing more than that unfortunately.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Fiery Heart

Posted on 01:30 by Unknown

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme and is hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine

This week I´m waiting for the fourth book in the bloodlines series by Richelle Mead.

The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead
{Expected publication November 19th, 2013}

In The Indigo Spell, Sydney was torn between the Alchemist way of life and what her heart and gut were telling her to do. And in one breathtaking moment that Richelle Mead fans will never forget, she made a decision that shocked even her. . . .
But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once. Her sister Zoe has arrived, and while Sydney longs to grow closer to her, there's still so much she must keep secret. Working with Marcus has changed the way she views the Alchemists, and Sydney must tread a careful path as she harnesses her profound magical ability to undermine the way of life she was raised to defend. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney struggles to keep her secret life under wraps as the threat of exposure—and re-education—looms larger than ever.
Pulses will race throughout this thrilling fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where no secret is safe.

{Book review} Never a mistress, no longer a maid by Maureen Driscoll

Posted on 08:00 by Unknown

Author: Maureen Driscoll
Title: Never a mistress, no longer a maid
Series: Kellington #1
Genre: Adult, Historical romance
E-copy: from author for honest review
Purchase: Amazon
My rating: 4 feet

Caught behind enemy lines at the Battle of Waterloo, nurse Jane Wetherby is forced to seek shelter with British operative Lord Edward Kellington. After a night of passion, the two are separated. With nothing but the alias Jane used to protect her family, Lord Edward is unable to find the woman he cannot forget.
Seven years later, Jane courts scandal by serving as the unofficial surgeon in the village of Marston Vale. When Edward arrives to formalize his betrothal to a viscount's daughter in accordance with his late father's wishes, Jane has no choice but to watch the match proceed. When a threat from the past emerges, Jane must join forces with Edward to safeguard her loved ones. But at what risk to her heart?

My thoughts

This really was a wonderful story that had my interest from the beginning to the end. It was so much more exciting then the blurb suggest and I loved that surprise. It was so much more to the story I didn't count on and that made me want to read more and more. It wasn't just the typical historical romance it also had a lot of suspense in it.

The characters was also lovely though I do think our heroine in the story was a bit too headstrong for her own good. And Ned her male counterpart! Very dreamy indeed and he had a really kind heart and a strong sense of family. A great combination if you ask me.

Like most historical romances this does contain love scenes but they were very tasteful and sweet and I really liked that. They weren't too much or too little, they were just enough.

Like I said this story held my interest and I really liked they way the author writes and how the story was build. A great historical romance I am glad I had the chance to read.

{Book review} Asylum by Jenny E. Miller

Posted on 04:14 by Unknown

Author: Jenny E. Miller
Title: Asylum
Series: Asylum #1
Genre: Young adult, historical-paranormal romance
My e-copy: from author for review
Purchase: Amazon
My rating: four feet

June Foster’s summer is limping along. Her life on a 1950′s farm in eastern Washington is boring–full of milking cows, picking apricots and tending to the chicken coops. Her only friends are her record player and her books. But when gorgeous, turquoise-eyed Frank falls into her world, her life becomes anything but ordinary.
June falls for Frank hard and fast–he’s beautiful, impossibly strong, and capable of things ordinary humans are not. But she’s wary about his father Jonas, a creepy man with an agenda. She should be. Suddenly June is deathly ill, falling in and out of consciousness. When she recovers, June and Frank discover Jonas’s deadly plans for her–and June takes revenge.
Convicted of murder, declared insane and sentenced to life at Washington Pines Sanitarium, June is stuck. Jonas’s plans are reaching her beyond the grave, and she suspects that there’s a lot more going on in the sanitarium than group therapy and electric shocks. Something evil has followed her here, or maybe it was waiting for her all along. If Frank doesn’t break her out soon, she’ll lose her mind–and her life.
My thoughts:

I loved this book, at least I did after a while. It was well written and you never knew what happens next in this book and that will keep your interest in the story. It was fun to read a story who took place in the 1950's with both the paranormal aspect and insanity part it was a great mix that really made this story intriguing.

At first I had some problems with the main character, she felt so distant to everything that was happening to her. Like she had no feelings at all, but after a while when I got to know her better I really liked her character and sort of understood her as well. she has a very strong mind and sometimes perhaps a little too strong and I think that is one reason I felt like she was emotionless at some points in the story. But how would one cope with everything she has been trough. Perhaps just like that.

I loved, loved, loved mr superboy Frank. Even though he was something out of the ordinary he was so down to earth and realistic. He was June's anchor I think in this story.

This book had a real cliffhanger and I can't wait to read more of this story. By the end I was so hooked I thought there was something wrong with my kindle since I couldn't change page after that last line. I couldn't believe that was the end! I am so curious about what will come next and how June will handle it.

Tune in Tuesday is hosted by Ginger @ GReads
But this feature can now be found at Katelyn´s blog Kate´s tales of books and bands until further notice.

Sometimes you just need to support a local artist right? So I thought I would do just that this week. I´m not usually fond of Swedish music. Weather they sing in Swedish or English it is just not my style but this Swedish band is AWESOME! They are kind of new and are working on their debut album right now and it will be released in August I think. The band is called NONONO and the song I love is called "Pumpin blood"

This next song by them  is also amazing and both can be found on spotify aswell.

Book review: Immortal Eclipse by Sherry Soule

Posted on 11:47 by Unknown
Author: Sherry Soule
Title: Immortal Eclipse
Series: None
Genre: Young adult
My Copy: E-book from author
Purchase: Amazon
My rating:

MYSTERY, MURDER, and MANOLO BLAHNIK

A devoted fashionata and practical New Yorker, Skylar Blackwell doesn’t believe in the supernatural—until she inherits Summerwind Mansion. . . .
When her uncle is brutally murdered, and the cops seem uninterested in following up the case, Skylar journeys to California to seek answers. Her search for clues is soon overshadowed by haunting nightmares of a young woman also murdered in the house.

Now the inhabitants of Summerwind are mysteriously dying, leaving no evidence as to how or why, and Skylar finds herself in a deadly race against time to expose the killer—before they strike again.

Armed with only wit and Pradas, Skylar begins questioning the servants, but the growing list of suspects includes the sexy and brooding caretaker, Dorian Delacroix, a man desperately trying to forget his tragic past. And a major distraction for Skylar.

Determined to play detective—instead of the fashion police—and unravel the dark history of the mansion, Skylar is plunged into an otherworldly mystery that not even she can explain away. As the boundaries between reality and dreams blur, Skylar’s greatest challenge is to stay alive long enough to learn the truth.

What did I think?
This was a really good book. It had a good plot, lovely charachters, a lot of suspence and a nice love story.
I rated this book a three, which is really not a bad rating. Overall it was a good story that kept me on my toes but it did not have the wow factor. Hence the rating.

So to the charachters. Some I loved and others I did not love so much.

We have the main charachter namne Skylar. She is a real fashionista and works as a fashion photografer at a hip magazine. She inherits the creepy Summerwind Mansion from her dead uncle. His death was a mystery to Skylar. She did not beleive that his death was natural so, one day when she gets fired from work she decides to go and check the Mansion out. While she is there she digs more into her uncles death to do him justice. This is more dangerous than she could have ever imagined...
Hellbent on not beleiving in the supernatural she might want to think again after staying at the mansion.
Skylar is a stubborn twenty five year old woman that knows what she wants. She is caring and curious. I really liked her and I felt really sorry for her sometimes. She had an unconventional upbringing staying with her grandmother. They grew really close and when she passed away it left a big hole in Skylars heart.

In comes our hero of the book, Dorian. This is a reeally mysterious guy that is hard to put your finger on. He struggles to do the "right" thing when it comes to him and Skylar. Whatever that means for him. I could not see why they could not be together. I keep wishing that he just suck it up and get his shit toghether. And eventually he did and that really made him grew as a charachter for me. The entire book he felt like a strong guy but with an extremely broken heart. This made him have trustissues and also it was hard for him to get close to people.

In the mansion also lives a huge amount of staff to take care of the house, including Dorians hideous aunt. I really really did not like her. She was such a bi**h that I just wanted to slap her. Her mission in life was to make Skylars and Dorians lives misserable. Also her matchmaking skills for her own son Victor sucked. Sure I can understand that a mother only wants her son to be happy but come on, overkill!

I really liked that almost all charachters stirred some kind of emotion in me as you might already have figured out lol. The story had a creepy feeling to it and a lot of ups and downs which I liked.

If you like a spunky main charachter in a creepy ghost story this is totally something for you!
This is a book that is worth your time.
